Conscious Culture Initiative launched
Seven-step programme designed to help wholesalers and suppliers align company culture with commercial goals, unlocking trust, creativity, and measurable business results
The Conscious Culture Initiative is being launched by Clare Bocking, Chair of Women in Wholesale and Managing Director of Immediate Impact Ltd, who said “Culture isn’t just about people – it’s about performance.”
The launch follows research commissioned by WiW in March 2024 to mark its 10th anniversary. Findings revealed 67% of women in wholesale cited a male-dominated culture as their biggest workplace challenge.
“When I spoke with colleagues across the sector, it was clear many weren’t sure what ‘culture’ really meant, how it could impact their business, or how to change it,” said Bocking.
Why culture matters
Research shows that a strong, intentional culture is proven to improve recruitment and retention; boost engagement, creativity, and productivity and enhance customer experience.
“Culture can make or break business performance. High-trust cultures deliver 2.5x revenue growth and 2x profit. It’s not a side project – it’s a strategic advantage”, said Bocking
“Yet many successful, entrepreneurial wholesalers still operate with a ‘legacy culture’ shaped by founder-owners – which may no longer serve today’s strategies, markets, and workforces.”
“The Conscious Culture Initiative provides a structured yet flexible framework to refresh and evolve culture, so it accelerates – rather than hinders – performance.”
