Caterfood to take on charity challenge
Supporting the Magic Breakfast charity, 20 people from across Caterfood Buying Group will be taking on the three peaks challenge
Caterfood Buying Group’s (CFBG) first charity challenge, including representatives from both the CFBG central team and its member businesses, takes place on Tuesday 24 June – all in 24 hours – with the aim of raising £10,000 to help fight hunger in schools.
An incredibly tough challenge, the 24-hour trek will cover 26 miles and 3,400 metres of ascent. Starting with Ben Nevis, in Scotland, the team will then conquer Scafell Pike, in England, finishing the challenge by climbing Snowdon, in Wales.
The team will include Andrew Selley, CEO of Bidcorp UK; Phil Atyeo, managing director of CFBG; Tom Workman, commercial director of CFBG; Paige and Kai Felton, of Caterfood South West; Simon Davison of South Lincs Foodservice; Paul Brittain of Turner Price and many more representatives from across the Group.
Phil Atyeo, MD of Caterfood Buying Group, commented: “At Caterfood Buying Group we have a lot of people who are very driven and like a challenge! So when the idea came about to take on something like the Three Peaks, we very quickly got a team together and naturally decided to support a food-based charity.
“We’ve not done something like this before, as a company, and I’m sure it’s going to push many of us – including myself – to our limits. But having such a worthwhile charity to support will make it a lot easier.
“The training is well under way and we’re over halfway towards our fundraising goal, but the more money that we can raise the better. This challenge will help to feed more children a healthy breakfast before they start their school day, helping them to make the most of their education.”
