While it still feels like the year has barely got underway, here we are resplendent in sequins and bow ties and celebrating the great and the good at the FWD Gold Medal Awards, which always heralds the start of the festive season.

And what an evening we had! More than 900 guests from across the industry packed out Old Billingsgate in London as Tom Allen was the host with the most as he dished out the 25 sought-after awards that were up for grabs.

Celebrating strong business performance and impressive results is always a delight, but to identify individuals from across the entire wholesale sector who have stood out for their commitment, can-do attitude and creativity is a real privilege. You can read all about our awards and winners on pages 12 to 18, and we will endeavour to find out more about the secrets to their success during 2025 and share them with you all.

There is no doubt that 2024 has been another year of challenge and on pages 23 to 31, some of the UK’s buying groups share their reflections on the year and the lessons they’ve learnt along the way. The one thing we all know is that the sector is full of determined, passionate and innovative people, and we are all gearing up ready to make 2025 a year where wholesale wins.
