BakeMark UK has launched a better-for-you cookie for the education sector.
The Apricot and Raisin Cookie is free from artificial flavours and colours, has more than 20% fruit, and has reduced sodium content in line with the FSA target for cakes. According to BakeMark, the cookie has 53% less saturated fat content compared to a typical milk chocolate cookie. With 23% fewer calories and 75% more fibre than regular cookie recipes.
Peter Julian, head of foodservice at BakeMark, said: “Parents would like their children not to snack between meals, but it is difficult to control what they eat during school hours. And our research confirms that children would be happy to eat healthier treats, provided they taste good.”
