Scottish Newcastle has extended its current partnership with Aintree Racecourse to sponsor the John Smith’s Grand National until 2010.
According to Scottish Newcastle, this year saw tens of thousands of pubs, clubs, supermarkets and off-licences across the UK participate in John Smith’s Grand National marketing activity. Seventeen million cans of John Smith’s Extra Smooth and John Smith’s Original carried a promotion offering prizes including VIP trips to the race and over pound;1m worth of free bets.
Speaking at the John Smith’s Grand National race launch for 2007, Nigel Pollard, head of sponsorship and PR at Scottish Newcastle, said: “Pairing The Peoples Pint with The Peoples Race has produced a major force in beer marketing and we are delighted with the multi-layered contribution that sponsorship has made to the John Smith’s marketing programme.”
