Constellation Europe has launched a new Chilean wine brand which it believes is ideally suited to the cash and carry market.
The company believes it has identified a gap in the market because consumers are looking for more Chilean wines, but there is a lack of a mainstream brand.
David Cunningham, vice president business development for Constellation Europe, commented: “We see a huge opportunity in the launch of Gran Tierra, particularly for cash and carries and their customers because convenience stores are where every day, mainstream wine brands at competitive price points tend to thrive.”
Constellation is investing pound;500,000 in a launch programme, which will include advertising in trade magazines targeting independent retailers.
There are two entry level blends – a ‘Smooth Red’ and ‘Crisp White’ – three single varietals – Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon Ros eacute; – and two premium dual blends – Cabernet Sauvignon Carmenere and Chardonnay Viognier.
