Walkers puts Carbon Trust label on pack of best selling flavour

Walkers is displaying a Carbon Trust label on packs of its leading crisp variety.

To qualify for the label, companies need to show their commitment to managing and reducing their carbon emissions before completing a carbon analysis of their product supply chain following the Trust’s guidelines.

Walkers Crisps will be one of the first mass marketed food brands to show the new carbon logo on the front of its Cheese and Onion standard packs, the company’s best selling flavour.

The company has reduced its energy and water use per pack by 33% and 45% respectively since 2000. And in addition to the carbon logo on the front of packs, Walkers has committed to reducing its energy and water use, per pack, by 3% and 5% respectively year on year.

Neil Campbell, chief executive of Walkers, said: “We think raising awareness of carbon emissions is the right thing to do. We hope this label will empower people to make more informed choices about the products they buy.”
