Rollover has reacted to the growing concern about the amount of salt in food by introducing a lower salt hot dog.
The new 90g sausage contains 0.9% salt, which is half that of Rollover’s usual hot dogs.
Rollover said cutting down on the salt involves a more complex process that increases the manufacturing costs, but it was absorbing the cost increase so its customers could offer a low salt option without compromising on the price.
Managing director, David Sanger said: “Approximately 75% of salt consumed is from processed foods, so the food industry has a responsibility to do what it can to reduce this figure. With this new addition we have taken our commitment to healthier food one step further.”
