It’s a Chunky Mint champion

Nestlé has crowned Kit Kat Chunky Mint its newest Chunky Champion and it will be on permanent sale from next week.

The launch of the bar will be supported by a £2m media campaign including outdoor and digital advertising. It will also benefit from Kit Kat advertising back on TV screens from June 3.  

Kit Kat’s Choose a Chunky Champion promotion ran for eight weeks at the beginning of this year with Mint fighting for top slot battle with three other potential flavours: Choc Fudge, Coconut and Hazelnut.  Consumers voted for their favourite flavour via Facebook with Mint eventually winning by just 1,000 votes.

Nestlé’s trade communication’s manager Graham Walker said the initiative  proved a huge success with sales of Kit Kat Chunky growing by 5.5% [ IRI MAT 52 w/e 3rd March 2013] and achieving a record share of 11% of chocolate singles sales.

What’s more, this year’s initiative was 21% bigger than the inaugural Choose a Chunky Champion in 2012, with a whopping £10.9m worth of bars sold.

Kit Kat Chunky Mint will now join last year’s Choose a Chunky Champion winner – Chunky Peanut Butter – as well as Chunky Milk to complete the range.
