Burton’s Foods has announced that it is removing all hydrogenated vegetable oil from its products.
Burton’s Foods has brands that include Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels, Maryland Cookies, Cadbury biscuits and own label products. The move is in response to rising consumer concerns about trans fatty acids and the company’s entire portfolio of over 100 products will be made free from artificial trans fats. Paul Kitchener, chief executive of Burton’s Foods, said: “We recognise the need to take action over trans fats and are pleased to be able to reassure consumers by removing hydrogenated fats from all our products. We are taking a proactive approach to balanced, healthy easting at the same time as producing biscuits that consumers enjoy is crucial to us.”
