Skittles is teaming up with Xbox to offer consumers the chance to win an Xbox One gaming console with every promotional bag sold from early June until the end of the year. This year’s promotion promises to be “bigger and better than ever before”, according to Wrigley, with an Xbox One console given away every day throughout the promotional period, as the brand aims to capitalise on the growing gaming trend in the UK.
Available from June 8 until the end of this year, a unique code will feature on packs of Skittles Fruits, Sours, Confused and Wild Berry flavours, on both the 55g individual bags and 174g sharing bags. After purchasing a promotional pack, consumers can then enter their unique code on www.skittleswin.com and play a Skittles game to be in with a chance of winning; no-one goes away empty handed as a free Skittles wallpaper will be available to download with every valid code entered.
Dan Newell, Wrigley Confections marketing manager commented: “With over 33.6m active gamers in the UK, this partnership with Xbox represents a great opportunity to tap into this growing trend and to drive sales. Last year’s partnership was a huge success and helped increase the number of households purchasing Skittles in 2015 compared to the previous year. We expect this year’s on-pack promotion to be even bigger and more successful.”
The launch will be supported by a new television ad campaign which will run throughout the promotional period, as part of the brand’s £multi-million investment for 2015. The promotion will also be supported by social media and accompanied by newly designed PoS materials to drive impact and awareness in store.
