Talented and dedicated people with a commitment to the wholesale channel were rewarded by their peers at the FWD Gold Awards in London last night.
Paying tribute to the winners and finalists, FWD chairman Andrew Selley said: “At times of great disruption and great opportunity we rely on our individuals and teams to take on the challenge of driving our businesses and managing change. This sector has always adapted and evolved and will continue to do so, with the enthusiasm and expertise of dedicated people. Our finalists tonight are those people.
“Our Gold Medal finalists have been put forward by their employers because they’re the best in their field. In delivery vehicles, in telesales, on the cash and carry shop floor or in the board room, these are the best we have. And we need more like them. Wholesalers and suppliers in this channel must invest in talent as our finalists have invested in us. We need to recruit, train and retain prospective leaders in all the disciplines of our trade.”
The 750 attendees also paid tribute to their sector colleagues affected by the collapse of FWD member Palmer and Harvey, with donations on the night going to a fund to support them and their families. We’ll have full and extensive coverage of the Awards in the December issue of Wholesale News.
