The Today’s Group has announced that Belfast-based wine, spirit and beer wholesaler Botl has become its newest member.
The move follows the company’s decision in October to set up a new business partnership with Today’s member HT amp;Co (Drinks).
Botl specialises in the licensed category and supplies a wide range of customers in Northern Ireland, a previously uncharted territory for HT amp;Co (Drinks). It has a 15,000sq ft depot, based in Belfast, and represents £10m of new business for the Today’s Group.
“We’re delighted to welcome Botl into membership,” said Bill Laird, managing director, Today’s Group. “HT amp; Co is a loyal, valued and long-standing Today’s Group member. We applaud the entrepreneurial spirit of Prakash Thakrar and his business.
“The strategic venture recently announced with Botl is a clear indicator of their ambition. Today’s Group and its members are experiencing a sustained period of growth and development, and the recruitment of Botl is yet another endorsement of the excellent package of support we offer our wholesalers.”
Prakash Thakrar, managing director of HT amp; Co (Drinks), which jointly owns Botl with Northern Ireland businessman Jim O’Neill, said: “This was an excellent and exciting new venture for us, and we are delighted to have brought our new business into Today’s Group membership. Membership of Today’s brings with it enhanced buying terms, the opportunity to use the highly respected Today’s brand and the chance to work with other Today’s wholesalers to pull together ideas and best practice – It was ideal for the business.”
Jim O’Neill, who is managing director of Botl, said: “We were delighted to form the partnership in 2010 with HT amp; Co (Drinks) Ltd, one of the largest Today’s Group members and one of the most dynamic licensed wholesalers in the UK, and are equally enthused with Botl becoming members of the Today’s Group.”
