Time to capitalise on changing attitudes

Consumers attitudes towards the major multiples are changing and this presents opportunities for the independent sector, Rodney Hunt, managing director of the Today’s Group and former chairman of the FWD Council, will tell the Annual Conference.

He believes that the familiar cycle followed by the media, where they build up a person or a company and then seek to undermine them and bring them down again, is currently affecting the major multiples generating a lot of negative publicity about them at present.

This means many consumers will be dissatisfied with these companies and seeking an alternative, and wholesalers customers are best placed to satisfy that demand and can win new customers and secure their future business.

Hunt has been with Nisa-Today’s for nearly 25 years, having joined as its first full-time employee, and headed central distribution and CBC before taking charge of Today’s. He is also immediate past chairman of the FWD having held the post from 2003-2006.
