The Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA) is claiming an industry first with the launch of its new Digital Library. The library will store key publications and information for members and their customers, and be available to iPhone and iPad users.
Its first publication is an interactive version of “The Alcohol Act Explained – A Guide to the Legislation”. This guide to the law for retailers was produced by the SWA and the Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) last autumn in advance of the key changes to Scottish licensing legislation that took effect under the Alcohol Etc (Scotland) Act 2010 from October 1, 2011. It is now available as an App on iTunes and will be the first of many SWA publications to be stored electronically.
SWA president George Benson said: “The way we communicate is changing and evolving, and we have a duty to respond to this by relaying important information to our members and their customers using the up-to-date technology that is now widely available.
“Our members will be able to email the App link to their retail customers and the information will be highlighted on the SWA’s website to ensure that as many people as possible know about it. Alerts will also be sent out to members whenever the Digital Library is updated and we add new information resources as legislation changes.”
