Marc Israel, a partner in Macfarlanes, a leading law firm in London, will address competition issues in retailing from a wholesaler/supplier perspective, looking at both the current investigation by the Competition Commission into the UK groceries market and other retailing activities more generally.
Israel advises on a wide range of UK and EC competition matters and regularly represents clients before the Office of Fair Trading, the Competition Commission and the European Commission.
He has considerable experience in a wide range of competition work and advises on a broad range of competition-related topics including merger and acquisitions, cartels and abuses of dominance.
He has been involved in a number of high-profile competition cases including HMV/Waterstone’s/Ottakars, Pernod Ricard/Allied Domecq and is currently advising Virgin on BSkyB’s acquisition of a 17.9% stake in ITV.
He advised both IBA Health and The Federation of Wholesale Distributors in the first two merger appeals ever brought before the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
