‘Teamwork’ sets the frame for FWD conference

The Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ annual conference picks up on 2012’s summer of sport with a programme designed to illustrate how suppliers, wholesalers, retailers and caterers can work together to improve their offer to the consumer.

Under the banner Teamwork in Distribution, the event takes the theme of a relay, with each stage of the supply chain passing the baton to the next. FWD chief executive James Bielby said: “Like a great relay team, our sector relies on the commitment, co-operation, understanding and efficiency of the members, and we hope the event will highlight the potential for great rewards that comes from effective teamwork throughout the distributive channel.”

The line up of speakers includes FWD Chairman Chris Etherington of Palmer and Harvey and Guy Farrant of Booker, who will take part in a discussion forum with Imperial Tobacco UK general manager Amal Pramanik and Paul Grimwood, chairman and CEO of Nestle UK.

Today’s Wholesale Services and Heineken will provide examples of how co-operation between suppler and wholesaler has benefited both, and further insight from outside the industry will come from Paul Mason, journalist and broadcaster, and Brandon Lewis MP, a strong advocate of the wholesale sector. Other topics under discussion will be the FWD’s political lobbying work, crime against wholesalers, distribution during the Olympics and sales data analysis.

Customer insight is provided by HIM, with the unveiling of the latest data from wholesale, cash and carry and foodservice customer interviews. Him! also takes the stage after dinner in the evening to present its annual awards for wholesalers.

Teamwork in Distribution takes place at the Hotel Russell in Bloomsbury, London on July 12. To reserve your place contact Nikki Connor on 01323 724952 or email nikki@fwd-u
