Sweet Charity announces new vice president

Sweet Charity, previously known as the Confectionery Benevolent Fund, has announced that Deri Watkins, UK chocolate impulse sales director for Mars, has become its new vice president.

He has been with Mars for 10 years in a number of roles, including general manager of the ice cream business and transformation director for the UK chocolate business.

He will support the new president, Booker’s Charles Wilson, and will succeed him as president in September 2010.

Watkins said: “To receive the invitation to be the new vice president of Sweet Charity is a great honour. I have always been a big supporter of the work done by Sweet Charity and hope, alongside Charles Wilson, I can play a part in raising much-needed funds.”

Patrick Davis, director general of Sweet Charity, said: “We are sure that Charles Wilson and Deri Watkins will make a formidable team, ensuring the continued success of Sweet Charity.”
