This week saw the inaugural Parfetts Go Local Extra Awards dinner followed by the Parfetts’ Trade Show in Leeds on Tuesday.
Held every two years, the Parfetts Trade Show saw more than 100 major suppliers descend on the Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road – the home of Leeds United FC, for the first time.
Coca-Cola, Unilever, McVitie’s, Carlsberg, JTI and Nestle played host to more than 1000 of Parfetts’ top retailers and registered customers who visited the event for a day full of deals, free samples and prizes. All attendees were given a deal book on entry offering a range of one-off deals available for collection at their local Parfetts depot.
For customers thinking about adopting the Go Local fascia, Parfetts created a realistic store mock-up, while the Landmark Wholesale members’ representatives were available to answer any questions retailers had.
Parfetts managing director David Grimes said: “This event is a great opportunity for our suppliers, partners and customers to all get together. The awards ceremony was about recognising business excellence. The show is about building business relationships and getting some great deals done. This was our biggest and busiest show ever – retailers bought stock by pallets and cases – taking advantage of exclusive trade show deals.”
Dave Cutler of McVitie’s said on the day: “I am impressed with the number of suppliers, but more importantly with the excellent turnout from customers. This is a great opportunity to discuss future opportunities in the biscuit category and reward Go Local retailers with some really exciting promotional activity.”
Parfetts trading director Greg Suszczenia concluded: “This unique show is a not just a place for suppliers to display their branding, it is the place to do Features > Business, where suppliers take orders, where retailers get a great deal and where everyone gets to know each other personally and this benefits the entire industry. The Parfetts trade show will be back in 2016.”
