Shop looks better and sells more – thanks to Blueprint

Gaj Grewal’s Londis convenience store in Goole, Yorkshire, has seen an instant uplift in his beer sales following the advice and re-merchandising from the Take Home Blueprint team. In just over four weeks since he had the Blueprint team in, sales in core brands such as Budweiser, Guinness Original and 1664, which were typically slow for Gaj, have exceeded expectations, in some cases doubling what he was selling previously.

Gaj initially got in touch with the Blueprint team following the success his cousin’s convenience store had reported after they had received a Blueprint makeover. Gaj explained: “My cousin couldn’t give enough praise to what the Blueprint had done to his store, so I didn’t hesitate giving them a call myself to get similar benefits for my shop.

“I’d recently installed new fixtures and large dairy decks but felt my investment wasn’t being reflected in my alcohol sales. It’s a busy shop and we get a lot of passing trade so I thought that the Blueprint could help improve the overall appearance of the off licence category and increase sales.”

As Gaj knew that the Blueprint was a tried and tested route of boosting sales, he had no hesitation in letting the Blueprint team re-merchandise his fixtures and took on board all the suggestions that the team made with regards to recommendations of brands that he should consider stocking and increasing the facings of some lines on the shelf.

Following the re-merchandise the visual impact was immediate and the sales increases followed soon after. Gaj said: “I completely trusted everything the team did and advised as I knew that it was based on sound industry advice and had already proven to get results at my cousin’s shop.

“From day one my customers were telling me how great it looked and this in turn had a knock-on effect to sales. The layout gives all the brands a chance. Mainstream products, which previously sold well, are now selling better, and less popular brands have picked up and are steadily increasing day-by-day. Customers can now browse the entire fixture and having my beers stocked in a dairy deck certainly helps capitalise on those customers wanting a chilled beer to drink there and then.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the service to any other retailers, just as it was recommended to me.”
