AF Blakemore & Son Ltd has appointed Russell Grant (pictured) as the new managing director of the company’s Wholesale division.
Grant, who has worked for the company for more than 12-years, will report directly to Group Wholesale Managing Director, Sam Wilcox, and will be responsible for the Wholesale cash and carry estate and stores group.
Having joined the business in November 2003 as cash and carry trading director, Grant was appointed wholesale commercial director in September 2009.
Russell Grant said that his main focus is to make Blakemore Wholesale “an even more customer focussed organisation” and to work with colleagues from across the business to develop the growth areas for the future.
He said: “We have already begun to implement a number of exciting new initiatives, which includes a new data platform to help us work more collaboratively with suppliers that will launch in March.
“We are also set to launch a new scheme to encourage greater loyalty from our Lifestyle and retail club customers. Other areas of focus include developing our on-trade and delivered catering businesses along with a wider focus upon achieving operational excellence across all parts of Blakemore Wholesale.”
He added: “Since I joined Blakemore a great deal of work has taken place in relation to centralising the marketing, pricing and stock control functions with an increased focus upon working collaboratively across divisions.
“A continuation of this approach will be critical as we work to develop greater partnerships with our suppliers that will in turn benefit our customers.”
Sam Wilcox said: “Russell has made a significant contribution to the business over the past 12 years and has the knowledge and experience to deliver Blakemore Wholesale’s vision as we work towards our 2020 strategic objectives.”
