The Delivered Catering Wholesale (DCW) market has shown a significant slowdown since the beginning of 2008, according to Justin Grice, senior client manager of Nielsen.
Grice said: “Within the DCW service, you can compare the different segments. By utilising Nielsen’s partnership with 3663 and Brakes, manufacturers can work closely with the wholesalers to ensure the right brands are targeting the right sectors.
“Ensuring that your product has the appropriate distribution, space and point of sale to extract maximum return is crucial. Particularly in workplace, the recent trend has been highlighting a product’s local or ethical trait.”
According to the Nielsen Homescan Survey, the appeal of local products is higher than many other concerns and over one third of people try to buy ethically produced or kind to the environment products.
