Prizes for retailers at the annual Bestway awards

Bestway’s finest retailers have been rewarded at its Retailer Development Awards.

National Retail of the Year was won by Shahnaz Kayani of One Stop Saver store, in Crumpsall, Manchester. She took the top prize of £10,000 and the Bestway trophy.

Other winners included Bilal Hassan Ghafoor of the Manchester Superstore, Bolton, who was the winner of the Northern Bestway Region, while Mohammad Shazad of ST Food and Wine, London, scooped the award for the Southern Bestway Region. Both retailers received £3000.

Sally Cann, of Croft Stores, Northants, won the Community Award in recognition of her contribution to the welfare of the local community.

Zameer Choudrey, Bestway’s group chief executive, said: “This is our eighth year of staging these awards and standards continue to improve across most of the independent sector. The pressure on the retailer to deliver excellent service never lessens and it was particularly good, therefore, to see greater numbers of people attending our development seminars in the north and south.”
