A new charity may be launched focusing on the genuine independent sole trader and family business – the wholesalers’ core customer base – and the local community.
The Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ PR Action Group (PRAG), which is driving the My Shop Is Your Shop campaign, has received FWD Council agreement to take the planning to the next stage.
The idea is to provide a fund from which independent retailers can help the local community with items such as new benches in the local parks, refurbishing community centres, kits for local junior soccer teams and so on.
The retailer would identify the need and make an application to the MSYS Community Trust for a grant from the fund which would be built by donations from suppliers’ charity budgets, wholesalers and retailers who would become members of the fund for a modest sum.
Feasibility studies are being being carried out for PRAG by charity experts at Cadbury Trebor Bassett prior to any further discussion.
