Palmer and Harvey’s Burns Night celebration, held last weekend (25th January 2014) raised in excess of £80,000 for industry charity GroceryAid.
The annual celebration was held at The Grand Hotel Brighton and attended by over 250 people. Palmer and Harvey’s suppliers and guests joined together in raising a toast to Scotland’s favourite poet (Robert Burns, in case you didn’t know) including representatives from the event’s main sponsors Mars, Mondelez, JTI, Pepsico, Britvic, Wrigley and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
This year, P amp;H has had another successful fundraising year for GroceryAid and support has included a P amp;H London-to-Paris bike ride, joined by MD Martyn Ward and group strategy and development Director Paul Hagon. This event raised almost £120,000.
Martyn Ward said: “I am delighted that our fundraising efforts with GroceryAid have been able to help former and current industry colleagues. I personally look forward to Burns Night every year and this year’s event has been the best one yet!”
Gillian Barker, GroceryAid Director General added: “What a marvellous Burns Supper and almost as far south from the Scottish border as possible! The ‘Address to the Haggis’ was excellent and it was great to see the dance floor filled with everyone trying out their Scottish country dance steps. Thank you so much to P amp;H and all their suppliers for using this event to raise money GroceryAid, the grocery industry charity.”
