This year’s FWD Gold Medal Awards will be the biggest ever, the Federation has revealed. The largest-ever gathering of the food and drink distribution industry awards will honour the finalists of this year in London on November 26.
More than 800 representatives of wholesalers and supplier companies have booked to attend the awards ceremony, which will reveal the winners of eleven awards for individuals and teams within FWD’s wholesale members, and seven for the top-performing brands of the year. The record attendance, more than 10% higher than the previous best last year (that event’s compere Hugh Dennis, pictured above), reflects the value that the wholesale distribution chain puts into its best and brightest talents.
The judges’ shortlists for the wholesaler awards reveal the cream of a very strong crop of entries from throughout the FWD membership.
In the running for the coveted Young Wholesaler of the Year Award are: Stuart Doughty, Retail Development Manager at Booker Brighton; Catherine Ellis, Contracts & Tenders Manager at Bidvest Foodservice; and Guy Swindell, Head of Customer Development & Marketing at AG Parfett & Sons.
The award for the depot driver of the year is contested b:y Philip Diebelius of Booker Ipswich; Stuart Keenan of P&H in Dunfermline and Dave McRostie, of Bidvest Foodservice in Bicester.
Other awards go to depot team members, customer support staff, depot managers and companies which provide superior service to their customers.
Winners of the awards for suppliers, including grocery brand of the year and innovation of the year, are voted for by FWD members, and the three finalists are announced on the night.
FWD director of communications David Visick said: “The standard of entries was higher than ever this year. We have some incredibly talented and committed people in the wholesale channel who deliver superb, efficient service to their customers and ensure that suppliers’ products and promotions reach consumers effectively. They deserve to be recognized and we’re delighted that a record number of their colleagues and supply chain partners will be with us on the 26th to share their night in the spotlight.”
The FWD Gold Medal Awards will be held at the HAC Royal Artillery Gardens in the City of London on November 26 at 6.30pm.
