Convenience retailer McColl’s Retail Group this week announced a new supply agreement that will see Nisa deliver to the 298 McColl’s store portfolio that it recently acquired in a deal with the Co-operative Group.
Nisa was awarded the supply contract after a competitive process. Subject to McColl’s receiving CMA clearance for the acquisition, Nisa will begin supplying the first of the new stores in January 2017, followed by a rollout throughout the first six months of the year. Last week Nisa confirmed a two-year deal to supply Haven and Butlin’s holiday park resort stores. The two year contract with parent company Bourne Leisure will see Butlin’s three sites and 36 Haven sites trading through Nisa from January with the potential for future growth.
The 298 McColl’s convenience outlets are predominantly located in neighbourhood locations throughout the UK. With an average size of approximately 1,700sq ft, the stores enable McColl’s to both deliver and accelerate its long-term strategy of expanding its convenience store operations, while increasing its exposure to the growth category of fresh and chilled food products.
Jonathan Miller, CEO of McColl’s, said:“Nisa’s quality fresh and chilled food supply strongly complements our ongoing expansion in the convenience sector, and will enable us to provide our new customers with a full range of high quality products at competitive prices. We look forward to building on our existing relationship with Nisa to enhance our customer offer even further, as we deliver the next stage of our neighbourhood convenience strategy.”
Nick Read, CEO of Nisa Retail Limited, added: “This is clear progress against our strategy to be the partner of choice for both retailers and wholesalers, as we seek to build greater scale for the benefit of all our stakeholders. The McColl’s contract win closely follows our appointment to supply Bourne Leisure – demonstrating Nisa’s unique ability to provide a strong, varied and comprehensive offer to a diverse range of retail formats.
“We have supported McColl’s convenience store portfolio since 2013, and now we are looking forward to supplying their expanded estate too.”
