My Shop is Your Shop campaigners received news of more support as ProWholesaler went to press. The latest source of involvement came from News International, publisher of The Sun and The Scottish Sun.
These titles, in addition to The Liverpool Echo, will publish the money-off big brands coupon feature on Friday, May 29, to alert more than seven million readers to the week of celebrations beginning on Monday June 1.
To demonstrate company support for independent retailers, News International executives will “Adopt A Shop” and visit convenience stores and newsagents to help behind the counter during NIW. More than 50% of the sales of News International titles are accounted for by independent stores.
MSYS chairman Alan Toft told ProWholesaler: “Working closely with the very supportive National Federation of Retail Newsagents, the recognition of the power of our campaign by News International is a big leap forward. We have now laid down an upbeat footfall-driving promotional platform accesssible to every small shop in our sector.”
New POS supporting the coupon feature is available for retailers to download from the campaign website www.myshopisyourshop.co.uk
Meanwhile, planning meetings are being held for MSYS National Walk amp; Shop Day on Wednesday, September 16.
