New venue for the FWD conference

A line-up of senior figures from the wholesale sector has been arranged as speakers at this year’s FWD Annual Conference.

Speakers who have been confirmed include the Today’s Group managing director Rodney Hunt, Bestway’s business integration controller David Gilroy, Landmark Wholesale’s trading director John Searle, Sugro UK’s managing director Philip Jenkins and chairman of My Shop Is Your Shop Alan Toft.

Other speakers include representatives from ACNielsen, Booker, Masterfoods and Macfarlanes, the competition lawyers who helped the FWD to make a challenge to multiple market domination at the Competition Appeals Tribunal in 2002.

This year’s conference is likely to be taking place shortly after the Competition Commission has revealed its thoughts on the multiple domination of the grocery market.

This year sees the conference take place at a new venue, the Forest of Arden Hotel, in Warwickshire. The FWD has selected the hotel for its facilities and relaxed atmosphere and the surrounding lakes, woodland and golf course which provides the location for the annual Federation Golf Day.

The FWD Annual Conference will take place March 26-27 and is jointly sponsored by Kraft Foods and Monitor Creative.
