AG Parfett amp; Sons has launched a new Go Local Extra store in Brighouse, Huddersfield.
J amp;H Local, owned by Jasdeep Singh, was officially opened in December by The Mayor of Calderdale, Coun. Ann Martin and her Consort, Mohammad Naaem (pictured).
The 2600sq ft store underwent a complete re-fit to treble the floor space of the original store that had traded for some 22 years. The Singh family own another convenience store in Bradford and have been in the retailing business for 30 years.
In his opening speech, owner Jasdeep Singh said: “I would like to thank Parfetts for their hard work and all the people who have contributed to the re-fit of the store. Without these highly skilled tradesmen and retail experts, this would not have been possible and they have done a great job.” Jasdeep also thanked local suppliers, East amp; West Catering, Allan Atkins of AJ Pies and Pastries (Andrew Jones Pies).
J amp;H Local includes a Post Office, Lottery, Pay Point, ATM, Food to Go, fresh fruit and vegetables supplied by local markets, a delicatessen and an in-store bakery. It also offers a range of ethnic foods (Chinese/Indian), tea and coffee and boasts large news and frozen food sections. It is also set to launch a delivery service to cater for the needs of disabled and elderly customers, plus there is already a shop assist service for blind customers.
On the opening day, the Singh family also presented the Help for Heroes with a donations to national charity Help for Heroes which was accepted by local co-ordinators, Margaret and Nev Smith who said: “We are truly grateful for your support and we can assure you that every penny collected will go towards supporting the injured, sick and wounded and their families. We thank Jasdeep and his family for their support and we wish them every success in their new business venture.”
