Musgrave Retail Partners GB will be capable of delivering a full fresh and chilled range to the entire membership of Londis by the end of the summer, according to managing director Phil Smith.
Two of its distribution depots, at Wellingborough and Pontefract, had moved to the new system and it will be rolled out to the other two, Thamesmead and Andover, by the end of the summer.
Smith said the enhanced offer, which will enable retailers to order milk, bagged salads, soft fruits and meat from the RDCs, would be available to retailers who signed up to the company’s Brand Essentials core ranging scheme. “This rewards retailers for putting greater spending with us,” he said.
He added that distribution enhancements were the result of substantial investment in the group’s supply chain. In the past year an Oracle system has been introduced across the distribution depots, replacing two legacy systems, and new cages have been brought in.
Dynamic scheduling has enabled the group to optimise the mileage travelled by its trucks.
