Jo and husband ‘Blue’ Walshe, owners of Shepton Stores, Shepton Beauchamp, Ilminster, were the winners of the first prize of pound;750 in an FWD My Shop Is Your Shop competition. The cash will go towards buying laptops for the local school.
The Walshes won the cash in the competition designed to recognise and share the best footfall-driving ideas for retailers.
MSYS campaign chairman Alan Toft presented the prize at a ceremony in the store – which was reported in the local media.
He said: “This is one way of building positive profile for the Walshes.” Jo Walshe, who is a school governor, is a big supporter of the MSYS campaign.
She said: “This campaign stands for all the things we believe in and try to promote in our business.”
Shepton Stores is supplied by wholesalers Booker and TA Symonds.
Second prize of pound;500 went to Mr A Madan, Wellmeadow Licenced Grocers, Paisley, to buy new improved security locks for flats occupied by local elderly folk. The shop has done a deal with a local tradesman to carry out the work.
