Mothering Sunday didn’t deliver the extra confectionery sales we had hoped for but the flower people appeared to have a good time, as did the thousands of establishments catering for special family Sunday lunches. If we don’t get the business one way, we get it another.
Easter is passing us by. There doesn’t seem to be the same excitement as previously. We did a very good job with ranging and created some brilliant buying opportunities but there appears little appetite for it this year. We’ve had some very successful promotions on canned cat food over the past year but have overlooked the fact that single serve pouches are driving growth to become the most popular format. The new Whiskas Expressions campaign should help us achieve the right balance.
