Meadow Foods launches foodservice division

Independent dairy Meadow Foods is launching a range of products targeted at wholesalers, caterers and restaurant businesses to trade under the name of Green Valley Dairy.

The new foodservice venture will provide a range of dairy products including full and low fat soft cheese, mascarpone, crème fraiche and, set soured cream as well as sweetened condensed milk.  The products will be sold directly to food service, wholesale and distributors and available in 1kg, 2kg and 5kg containers as individual units or in multi packs.

Meadow Foods says it has invested in new manufacturing capabilities at its Grade A, BRC approved site in Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Yorkshire to meet expected demand.

Mark Chantler, managing director of Meadow Foods’ ingredients business, said:  “This is a logical progression for the business as it opens new markets and opportunities for our quality dairy products.  We intend to run Green Valley Dairy as an independent brand to Meadow Foods, whilst still using our business’ proven experience and expertise in the dairy sector.

“We’ve already seen some positive interest and orders for the product from wholesalers and end users alike.  We’re excited by the opportunity that Green Valley Dairy presents in capturing the premium yet affordable end of the food service marketplace.”

Meadow Foods operates from factories in Chester, Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor. The company, founded in 1992, now employs more than 275 people and has a turnover in excess of £400m.
