Mars Chocolate UK is set to launch its first NPD in 20 years with Goodnessknows – a fruit, nut, rolled oats and plain chocolate snack aimed at the “wholesome” segment of the Cereal Bar category.
Available in three varieties – Cranberry & Almond, Blueberry & Almond and Apple, Peanut & Almond, each 160 calorie bar is split into four square portions and made with no artificial colours, ingredients, flavours or preservatives. It is made at Mars Chocolate’s Slough factory.
Set to hit shops in August, Goodnessknows is the first major launch from Mars Chocolate UK since Celebrations. However, its major USP is the fact that 10% of all profits will be used to support good causes, such as community projects and local initiatives via a new Goodnessknows Fund.
Goodnessknows will be backed by a £4.6m campaign this year including sampling, TV, PR and digital to help convey the charitable element of the brand.
Mars is advising wholesalers to site Goodnessknows in the confectionery aisle and explaining to retailers that it can either sit with other impulse items in stores, or in ‘lifestyle/better-for-you’ bays where there is room.
Goodnessknows single bars have an RRP of 90p and a three-pack is RRP £1.99.
