Premier Foods has awarded its Manager of the Month title to Richard Bevan, Manager of BA Cash Carry, Cardiff. Richard has worked at the depot for 18 years and became depot manager around five years ago. He was nominated by Premier Foods’ Business Development Executive Neil McDonald.
Richard believes that working closely with suppliers is paramount to the success of his cash and carry. “To do my job well, I need to know that any questions and issues will be handled swiftly and efficiently. Premier Foods’ representatives are always accessible, which means that problems are dealt with quickly and we can remain fully stocked and as competitive as possible.”
Richard also has a number of strong initiatives in place to maintain customer loyalty, including the Retail Club. “Our Retail Club gives retailers the chance to benefit from specific promotions. We provide members with POS materials and other incentives on a monthly basis. The Club is very successful and continually growing.”
Neil McDonald praises Richard’s promotion of Premier Foods brands and excellent sales figures. “The Premier Foods account has grown by 30% this year in Richard’s depot. BA has listed around 30 new SKUs this year and the Premier Foods section has always dominated, providing retailers with fantastic access to our products. We always have five or six displays in depot every month as well. Richard also drove excellent results with our Branston Relish BBQ competition this summer.”
Richard believes that his people skills have been key to his success as depot manager. “It’s necessary to deal with many people in this job, and it is important that those working relationships are nurtured to allow everyone to get the best possible results. It is important to work closely with suppliers so that we get the support we need, while also providing our customers with the very best service.”
This Christmas BA Cash Carry has supported Premier Foods’ major brand leaders, including Bisto and Paxo, with a trade day promoting local deals on 12 different SKUs.
