The Nestl eacute; Rowntree Manager of the Month for January is awarded to Kevin Wood, branch manager of Booker in Norwich.
Wood has a wealth of experience as a branch manager and has worked for Booker for approximately 20 years across a number of locations including Leicester, Derby and Ipswich before arriving in Norwich.
He has been recognised as the first Manager of the Month of 2008 for his continued focus on increasing confectionery sales both in his depot and for his customers.
Wood, in particular, is recognised for his appreciation of dedicated, focused suppliers and is keen to build strong relationships with those who are there to help drive sales.
With regard to Nestl eacute; Rowntree, Wood has recognised that the confectionery manufacturer is driving business in the branch and is keen to support them by working closely with sales development executive Shelley Thomas. This has helped to ensure the Norwich branch benefits from first-class support in terms of getting the right new launches and promotions into the branch with high impact displays on the first day of stock availability.
Throughout 2007 the depot has maximised sales of new product launches, such as Aero Milk Bubbles, as well as major promotions, such as Nestl eacute; Rowntree’s on pack tie-up with The Simpsons movie. The depot is consistently excellent at ordering the right levels of stock to ensure full availability for its customers, meaning they can easily find the products in branch. Thomas also ensures Wood is kept up-to-date with the media support for Nestl eacute; Rowntree activity, so the depot can adapt stock levels and displays to meet the anticipated increase in sales.
A successful year was topped with a successful Christmas. Big gifting and sharing brands, such as Quality Street, are not only top sellers at Christmas but also all year round as a small gift or to share with family and friends. The Norwich depot maximised sales by ensuring the big brands were given the amount of space they deserve so customers could easily find them.
Outside of work Wood is a passionate Norwich City football supporter. He has held a season ticket for many years and makes sure his grandsons aged just two and three are always kitted out with the latest football strips.
