Manager of the month

The Nestl eacute; Rowntree Manager of the Month for August is awarded to Rohit Jain, depot manager, Bestway Cash Carry Leeds.

Bestway’s Leeds depot opened in 1992, and serves approximately two thousand people each week. Jain has been with Bestway for four years, joining the company after finishing his MBA at Leeds Business School.

His primary role is to increase the Bestway Leeds depot’s sales and profitability, and as part of this he is responsible for planning promotions and ensuring optimum stock availability as well as the smooth running of the branch.

His passion and enthusiasm ensure Jain stands out as a manager within the industry, a fact which is continually noted by the sales team at Nestl eacute; Rowntree. And it is for an example of this passion and enthusiasm that Jain has been recognised as the manager of the month.

Nestl eacute; Rowntree’s major consumer promotion for the summer sees some of the company’s favourite confectionery brands, like KitKat, team up with the Simpsons movie. The on-pack promotion offers consumers the chance to win one of 10 prizes of pound;10,000 simply by opening their favourite pack and finding a yellow bar. Jain recognised the promotion as an opportunity to create some real excitement in his depot, and wanted to deliver the biggest event the Leeds depot had ever seen. This started with raising awareness of the promotion early with his customers by pre-selling the activity, advertising in the depot’s weekly promotional leaflet and putting up posters in the depot in all the key areas customers go to – such as near the cash machine and in the reception area.

Once the depot received the promotional stock, Jain met with his management team to plan the layout and the execution of the display. They created the display on the Friday, ready for the promotion’s launch on the Monday, and on the day of the launch Jain himself stood next to the display and sold it to his customers. Then, throughout the entire promotion at least one member of staff proactively sold the deal to all customers walking through the door. Jain also sent a minimum of two deals to all his delivered customers.

Importantly, the result of the depot’s activity had a fantastic impact, achieving an incremental pound;20,000 of confectionery sales during the time of the promotion.

Outside of work Jain enjoys many sports, and is particularly keen on football and cricket.
