Makro has announced the re-launch of two of its stores – Manchester and Queensferry – with an increased focus on hotel, restaurant and catering (HoReCa) customers.
As a result, a greater proportion of the store space will be dedicated to ultra fresh food (meat, fish and fruit and vegetables) and grocery, along with a greater professional range in non food.
A professional cold room has been installed for meat, alongside a large fresh fish department, and the grocery section has been overhauled with increased choice of range and pack size. Overall 5,000 lines have been changed.
The store layouts have also been redesigned to make shopping easier and faster, including a dedicated entrance, till and exit for Gold Card customers – especially those from HoReCa and trader businesses who need to be in and out as quickly as possible.
The stores’ management teams have also received intensive training provided by parent company Metro’s ‘House of Training’. As a result, the Manchester store and HQ is set to become the Makro ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the UK, which will be used by store managers from across the country.
