Musgrave Retail Partners has completed the rollout of its programme to offer Londis retailers a comprehensive fresh foods offer.
It already has a strong fresh offering with Budgens and is aiming to improve and increase the fresh food offer from Londis.
Londis Fresh, which includes a new range of fresh products as well as supply chain improvements, is now available nationwide to more than 1,900 retailers after the scheme was extended beyond Musgrave’s South Elmsall depot in West Yorkshire to the group’s Andover and Thamesmead distribution centres.
Steve Lucas, Londis sales director, said: “We’re delivering the new fresh initiative across the business and enabling our retail partners to order almost 100% of the improved fresh offer through our RSCs.”
Lucas said the scheme which is backed by 70 suppliers and a new warehouse management system that ensures longer shelf-life for fresh produce had already helped double sales. Improved category management and deliveries six days a week had also lead to a reduction in waste.
He added: “I’m delighted that Londis retailers are now equipped with the tools, the capability and delivery service to make the most of fresh food, the biggest growth area in the convenience sector.”
