Londis invests half a million in tobacco price cuts

Londis UK is investing more than £500,000 to cut prices on four premium cigarette brands.

The symbol group told Wholesale News that the move set it apart from other symbol operators, which don’t currently include tobacco in loyalty discount schemes.
The investment is part of a package of promotions aimed at driving sales and giving Londis retailers a competitive edge in the tobacco category.
Londis retail director John Pattison said Londis was the only symbol group offering a national discount on tobacco as part of its Loyalty Discount Scheme, which he added was worth more than £2.2m a year in discount paid out to Londis retailers.
“This is about giving our retailers a competitive edge and rewarding loyalty. It’s part of what sets us apart from other symbol brands and part of our wider strategy to drive sales, increase margins and improve cash flow for Londis Retailers.”
The price reductions fall across Marlboro, Silk Cut, Benson amp; Hedges and Lambert amp; Butler. This is the second time Londis has reduced tobacco prices this year. In September it invested £300,000 in price cuts on value cigarette brands.
