The Federation of Wholesale Distributors has never been in safer hands and its Council is the strongest ever. This tribute to the ruling body of FWD was paid by director general Alan Toft in his farewell comments before his retirement.
Toft paid tribute to the Council which consists of: chairman Rodney Hunt (Nisa-Today’s), immediate past president Steve Parfett (Landmark), Younus Sheikh (Bestway and Batleys), Mike Taylor (Musgrave Budgens-Londis), Peter Blakemore (Spar, Blakemore), Philipp Dautzenberg (Makro), Francis Ball (Costco), Philip Jenkins (Sugro), Fred Barnes (3663) and Ewan Venters (Brakes).
Toft declared: “These people are working for every wholesaler in the country whether they are members of FWD or not. They are investing their time safeguarding the interests of the total wholesale market. It is the strongest and highest quality Council ever.”
The AGM was told that the financial stability of FWD had been maintained in 2004 together with the highest ever level of activities.
