Landmark revises sales figures upwards

Updated figures from Landmark Wholesale show sales in December were even higher than the 5.5% increase reported when it was still waiting for figures for some members.

The final figures show sales into depots in December were up by 7.1% overall compared with the same month in 2010 resulting in an overall sales rise of 9.6% for their financial year to date from May 2011. Own brand sales rose by 27.9% with fiscal year-to-date sales 28.5% ahead.

Highlights among Landmark Wholesale members’ performances included DCS Group, which followed up its second biggest trading month ever in November 2011, with sales in December up 15% up on the previous year.

New member Country Range Group also saw sales rise by 15% over the Christmas period; frozen food sales at L amp;F Jones rose by 33.86% and fresh meat by 20.58%; and wine and spirits sales at AG Parfett amp; Sons were up by 18%.

Restaurant Wholesale, United Wholesale and AJ Foods have all more than doubled own brand sales in the current financial year compared with 2010/2011.

Landmark Wholesale managing director Martin Williams said: “Trading conditions have been incredibly tough, but our performance in December was excellent, particularly when compared with figures coming from the major multiples.

“Our own brands are doing particularly well and, for the second month running, every Landmark Wholesale member’s own brand sales are ahead of the same period last year which is a fantastic achievement. It’s great to hear good news coming from the independent sector and we have lots of plans in place to maintain this momentum through 2012 and beyond.”
