Booker managing director Gerry Johnson has announced that he will be leaving the company following the takeover of its parent, Big Food Group, last month.
BFG was taken over by Giant Bidco, a consortium lead by the Icelandic retail group Baugur. Bidco’s chairman Hans Kristian Hustad, a Norwegian with experience of the wholesale sector in his native country, will take on the role of chief executive until a replacement is appointed.
A spokesman for Bauger said it would probably be the second half of the year before an appointment was made.
Hustad said: “Gerry has contributed to Booker’s achievements over the past four years. He is currently working closely with the management team and doing everything he can to ensure future success at Booker. I would like to thank him for his hard work and wish him every success in the future.”
