JJ Food Service targets the UK fish ‘n’ chip market

JJ Food Service, the Enfield-based national wholesaler, has become an Associate Member of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) as it accelerates its move into the fish and chip shop market.

JJ’s chief products officer Ali Guvemli said: “We are delighted to have the backing of the NFFF in highlighting our offer to fish & chip shops – we cover the total shopping basket including a wide range of Frozen at Sea fish and seafood lines, packaging, condiments, soft drinks and other fish & chip shop essentials at competitive and consistent prices.”

Weymouth-based restaurant and takeaway Bennett’s Fish & Chips is the latest customer to benefit from the range. Manager Mark Bennett (pictured above) said: “I first started using JJ’s Frozen at Sea cod in the summer. The feedback from customers has been great and the prices have been incredible – we went from paying £110 for 40lbs with our previous supplier to just £90. That’s a saving of £100 a day during busy periods.”

Gregg Howard, president of NFFF said, “Our Associate Members play an essential role in providing products and services to the fish frying industry and in supporting the work of the NFFF in maintaining fish and chips as the UK’s number one takeaway meal.”

To support its move into the fish and chip market, JJ has invested into a trade marketing campaign to highlight new products and promotions to customers throughout 2016.
