Enfield-based, family-owned wholesaler JJ Food Service achieved pre-tax profits of £7.5m for the year ended 31 March 2014, compared with £4.5m for the previous year. Turnover was down slightly at £182.7m compared with £185.5m for the previous year.
Managing director Mustafa Kiamil said: “We are delighted that our profits are up 65% and while turnover has decreased slightly, it is in line with the general market place and reflects our ongoing commitment to pass on savings to our customers.”
JJ has increased efficiencies in all aspects of its business over the past twelve months by adopting new technologies to streamline operations.
Earlier this month the foodservice specialist announced that it was expanding its customer base to gastro pubs, restaurants and hotels having previously focused on cafes, coffee shops, Quick Service Restaurants, schools and local authorities.
“We are tripling our sales force over the next six months and training all our staff to cater for a broader customer base. This puts us in a strong position to grow our business while remaining focused on offering quality products and a first-class service”, added Mr Kiamil.
JJ’s forecast for the next financial year is to grow profits by 46% to £11m.
