A well-known Irish cash and carry was devastated by fire this week
The fire, whose causes are as yet unknown, caused extensive damage to the main building of Tuffy’s Cash amp; Carry at Bohernasup in Ballina, County Mayo. The building was gutted in the blaze.
A number of roads around the town were closed due to heavy smoke in the area but the Gardaí said there is no indication that the fire, which broke out around midnight, was started maliciously.
Firefighters completed their work at the scene on Tuesday evening and goods were removed from the depot and dampened down.
It is understood around 30 people are employed at the business on a full or part-time basis, and these jobs may now be under threat.
