New food and drink ideas from around the world: IFE kicks off on Sunday

The International Food & Drink Event (IFE) opens its doors this Sunday for a four-day food and drink extravaganza at London’s Excel exhibition centre.

The event showcases NPD and category innovation, alongside a programme of seminars and networking events to bring together industry people from around the world. Featuring more than 1,350 global food and drink suppliers, the show expects to welcome more than 29,000 attendees from 108 countries, over 35 industry leading speakers as well as top chefs from a diverse range of culinary backgrounds and channels.

The 2017 show will see new attractions including The Ice Café, run in association with the British Frozen Food Federation and Craft Guild of Chefs. There are also two new speaker stages – the Talking Trends stage and the Big Picture theatre. Running in tandem with other new show
highlights including The Staff Canteen Live demo area and the show floor networking hubs.

Hosted by Saturday Kitchen wine critic, Jane Parkinson, the Talking Trends stage industry personalities such as Tony Askins, Founder of Yumpa, James Strawbridge, Food Designer & Development Chef from Posh Pastry, and Maria Antidormi, Customer Insight Consultant, who will discuss current trends and whether they’re just a fad, or part of the industry’s future on Monday 20 March. O Tuesdany March 21, Emma Heal, the Retail Director for Graze, explores the diversification of food on-the-go. The Talking Trends stage shines a spotlight on the newest NPD entering the market.

Also new for this year, IFE 2017 has introduced “Trend Trails”. The simple to follow Trend Trail maps will highlight relevant stands to source new and on-trend produce. The Trend Trails will help buyers walk a dedicated path allowing them to discover the latest products and suppliers in a specific on-trend category such as free from foods.

Equinox Kombucha are raw, organic sparkling energy drinks containing naturally-occurring vitamins, minerals, amino acids and live bacterias. Stand N1900

Vegetable and salad producer, Troy Foods, from Leeds will showcase will freshly prepared vegetables for ready meals and retail packs alongside its recently launched own-range of mayonnaise for the food service and retail sectors. Stand N2722

Family brand Minioti makes ice-creams made with 100% Jersey milk and cream, no added sugar and healthy live cultures. It will showcase new-look branding and full range, including Creamy Vanilla and Creamy Chocolate. Stand N2736

Oriendi is a six-strong range of cooking sauces, marinades and pure, natural date molasses, made using dates. The range, which is from Israel, includes Chili & Garlic, Sweet and Sour variants plus Light & Natural made only with the juice of raw dates and contains 30% less sugar than white or brown sugar and 20% less sugar than honey.
