Hothi Cash and Carry has been re-branded as HT Co (Drinks) and expanded its depot at Park Royal in west London.
The company has traded at the site from an 18,000sq ft cash and carry for the past 25 years. In 1998 the business was acquired by the Thakrar family, and last year turnover reached pound;120m.
In 2005 managing director Prakash Thakrar decided that in order for the business to develop further it would need upgraded premises.
Finding there was a lack of suitable warehousing space available in the area the company bought property around the existing cash and carry and began a four-stage expansion programme.
Over a period of 18 months it has increased the size of the depot to 50,000sq ft while continually trading from the site.
Last week the expanded depot was officially opened by the Mayor of the London Borough of Ealing, Hazel Ware, and Today’s Group managing director Rodney Hunt.
At the opening, trading director Sanjay Thakrar said: “My family are confident that we will be able to grow the business further in the future.”
Coinciding with the completion of this phase of its expansion, the company has also been re-branded to reflect more closely its business which specialises in alcoholic and soft drinks.
A final stage of the expansion, adding on to the side of the depot, will begin next month and is due for completion in early 2008. It will provide an additional 15,000sq ft.
