Landmark Wholesale member Henderson Foodservice has opened its new distribution facility in Mallusk, Northern Ireland, following an investment of £14m into the project.
Damien Barrett, managing director of Henderson Foodservice said the move was a response to sales growth of nearly 40% since 2007, resulting in a need for expansion and consolidation of its two previous sites. The new facility provides 125,000sq ft of frozen, ambient and chilled warehousing, as well as new offices
Barrett said: “We are delighted with the new facility, which will enable us to maintain our high levels of service, improve our efficiency levels and centralise resources. The growth of foodservice over the past few years, following procurement of a number of significant long-term contracts in both public and private sectors, meant we had limited warehouse space in our old sites to deal with the increased demand. By consolidating distribution into one base, it has enabled us to streamline the Features > Business, share resources and control running costs in general. Plus create more space for staff, and present the option for future expansion and job creation.
“In addition, the new facility now houses a new showroom with a fully operational kitchen. This will be used as a tool to allow new and existing clients the opportunity to sample the latest lines, plus offer an excellent training resource for developing sales and customer training.
